The Genomics Working Group is the newest addition to the NBV and focuses on both the biotech industry (pharma and agriculture) and academic biotech/life sciences. The aim of the Genomics Working Group is to encourage knowledge exchange in the field of rapidly evolving sequencing and genotyping technologies. We do this by creating a shared network of both academic and industry members, organising webinars, and discussing societal issues such as data regulation. Topics covered will span the entire biotech workflow, from sampling and DNA/RNA extractions to library preps, sequencing/genotyping, and Bio-IT analyses. For more information, visit the website.
NBV member and microbiology icon Ben Lugtenberg has written the book “Zó leuk is microbiologie” (Microbiology: How Fascinating It Is). The book is suitable for a wide audience and equally engaging for microbiologists and secondary school pupils alike. It addresses topical subjects such as natural gas, antibiotics, coronavirus, genetic modification, vaccines, and climate change. Highly recommended!
