Introduction of the NBV Biopharma Working Group

The Biopharma Technology working group is focused on bringing together academics and industrial professionals to share knowledge and experience in the field of biopharmaceutical process technology.

Within this framework, we discuss both production in the bioreactor (upstream) and purification (downstream), and we aim to learn from various biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, such as mRNA vaccines, therapeutic proteins, and cell and gene therapies. As a working group, we facilitate this interaction by chairing a session at the annual NBC conference on the aforementioned topics and organising an annual evening symposium with a subsequent networking reception. On 21 November 2024, a successful second edition of the evening symposium took place, themed ‘Future Perspectives on Biopharma’, which attracted more than 100 enthusiastic participants.
