Keynote speakers NBC-23 announced

The keynote speakers for NBC-23 have been announced! Here you can find out more about them.

Jean-Paul Meijnen is Senior Director of Organism Engineering at Ginkgo Bioworks and Managing Director at Ginkgo Bioworks Netherlands. Ginkgo Bioworks aims to simplify biology through advanced technologies such as DNA synthesis, laboratory automation, and sophisticated analytics. Meijnen joined Dutch DNA Biotech in 2018, where he became Director of R&D and was responsible for the platform technology to develop fungal strains and fermentation processes for the production of proteins and organic acids. Following the acquisition of Dutch DNA Biotech by Ginkgo Bioworks, Meijnen continues to work on developing microbes for a wide range of applications and heads the Dutch branch of Ginkgo Bioworks.

Diana Visser is Vice President of Sustainability at Corbion. Corbion is well known for producing lactic acid applications through the fermentation of sugars for the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Since 2018, they have also been producing polylactic acid (for bioplastics) from biomass. Visser joined Corbion in 2001 as a scientist, where she contributed to R&D in fermentation, metabolic engineering, and process technology. As VP, Visser now leads the development of Corbion’s long-term strategy, ambitions, and objectives in the field of sustainability. In recognition of the impact of her work at Corbion, Visser was named SDG Pioneer of the Netherlands in 2020 by the Global Compact Network Netherlands.

Olivier Rolland is Director of Toulouse White Biotechnology, a pre-industrial demonstrator in the field of industrial biotechnology with a mission to further develop the bio-economy on the basis of renewable carbon use. Rolland began his career at Total, where he took responsibility for the biotechnology activities of the Total New Energies unit. He also played a role in the alliance with Amyris, the American leader in synthetic biology, where Rolland led the development of the first aviation biofuel produced from sugar through fermentation. Prior to his current role, Rolland served as Director of Sustainable Fuel Strategy at Boeing, where he led the global strategy to enable innovative regional biofuel value chains.
